Petrol Diesel Price in Pondicherry Hiked
Petrol and diesel prices in Pondicherry are up from Friday. This rate will apply for the next 3 months after the Puducherry government hiked the VAT (Value Added Tax) on petrol and diesel.
As on Friday, you will be paying Rs. 3. 22 more per litre on Petrol and Rs. 2. 01 more on Diesel .
Petrol will now cost you around Rs. 72. 5 and diesel around Rs. 67 per litre.
According to a gazette notification dated May 27, the VAT for petrol in Puducherry and Karaikal has been raised to 28 percent while for diesel it has been increased to 21.8 percent.
The increase is VAT is differential for the various enclaves – Puducherry (for Karaikal, it’s the same as Puducherry district), Mahe and Yanam- a departure from the norm when the tax rate is usually uniform.
