What crafts and goods are ‘Made in Pondy’?

The annual ‘Made in Pondy’ exhibition showcases the best of what is handmade and handcrafted in Pondicherry.

Pondicherry is home to a few international and niche brands in design. But it is also a hub for hand-rolled incense, handmade soaps, handmade paper products and stationery, handcrafted leather bags, high quality cotton sheets, handmade terracotta, glazed stoneware pottery, naturally concocted perfumes, organic and naturally made gourmet food products and more.

The combined influences of Auroville, the Aurobindo Ashram, expats, local artisans and new entrepreneurs keep this legacy of celebrating the handmade alive!

Originally held at the Craft Bazaar near Gandhi Thidal, the ‘Made in Pondy’ expo has evolved into a a more intimate experience since 2021 that allows visitors to interact closely with the designers, learn about their craft, watch demonstrations and occasionally get a hands-on experience.

Watch out for ‘Made in Pondy’ as part of the Pondicherry Heritage Festival in Feb-March.

Entry is free and open to all . Held at Kariappa House, Vaithikuppam
