- The Dept of Tourism has organised cultural programmes at Gandhi Thidal on January 14 ; a debate in Tamil (Patti mandram) at Le Cafe on Jan 15; a bullock cart ride from Beach Road on January 17 followed by a live music concert at Le Cafe to mark Kaanum Pongal when it is typical for many locals to throng the beach on the auspicious day.
