The last weekend of February is here and it looks like a bustling one in Pondicherry. Here are top things to do around Pondy and Auroville.

Soak up the festive atmosphere of Masi Magam

Masi Magam is a festival celebrated with much pomp in Pondicherry. The coastal areas including the Promenade Beach and Vaithikuppam wear a carnival- like atmosphere. The shoreline turn into a sea of humanity as devotees take a dip in the sea. You will find colourful processions, handmade toys, traditional foods along the shore.

Listen to indie bands and shop local @ Ten10Fair

Ten10Fair has packed in a whole lot of entertainment into 2 days- exciting workshops, a line-up of indie musicians making waves in South India, stalls featuring unique products made in Pondy and Auroville and  food stalls from live barbecues to desserts. There’s a hemp zone, a Tamil rapper, archery, beat boxing and much more. Find the full list here

Go to this weekend village market for workshops, crafts & cultural performances

Mohanam Cultural Centre

The villages that lie between Puducherry and Auroville are known for their craftsmanship and unique traditions. The Auro Sandhai Weekend Market organised by Mohanam Village Heritage Centre showcases all of that. There is food, fun, games and more. Workshops by local artisans where you can have a hands-on lesson and highlights include a bamboo music  band, Indo-African drumming and sound healing sessions.

The artisans in these villages have been hit by the pandemic and the event supports their endeavours.

WHERE: Mohanam Campus, Alankuppam, Auroville

WHEN: February 27 and 28; 10 am – 8 pm
