What are the lockdown restrictions till May 10 in Puducherry

UPDATE: The following lockdown restrictions in Puducherry have been extended till May 10– essentials, medical services & public transport not affected. 

Certain restrictions were imposed by state executive committee till April 30 and now have been extended upto May 3. The extension has been implemented following recommendation by Madras High Court to implement curbs and covid protocols ahead of counting of votes on May 2.

Corona Night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am daily

MOVEMENT

Going out during the day ? The government has advised people not to step out during the day except for essential purposes. Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has emphasised on this on Monday, May 3. If restrictions are not followed, the government may be compelled to announce a stricter lockdown, she added.

WHAT ARE THE SHOP TIMINGS IN PUDUCHERRY ?

Non-essential shops are shut down. Only shops in the ‘what’s allowed’ list can open anytime between 5 am and 10 pm. But most shops are closing between 8 pm and 9 pm to give staff enough time to reach before night curfew starts at 10 pm.

WHAT’S ALLOWED

  1. Provision stores, groceries, vegetable & fruit shops, any type of shop dealing with food. Note: Groceries in malls and large format stores not allowed to open.
  2. Dairy and milk booths
  3. Meat and fish shops
  4. Home delivery of food and take-away from restaurants, hotels and eateries
  5. Parcel at teashops.
  6. Pharmacies and opticians
  7. Hospitals, medical labs, medical instruments and all medical allied activities.
  8. Ambulance and hearse services
  9. Petrol pumps
  10. Banks, ATMs, insurance offices, stocks
  11. Public transport (buses/ autos/ taxis) : Only seated passengers in buses; driver + 2 passengers in auto; driver + 3 passengers in cabs.
  12. Goods transport and vehicles carrying agricultural produce
  13. E-commerce activities
  14. Telecom, cable, internet, media, IT/ ITES
  15. Agriculture and allied activities
  16. Industrial production and industries
  17. Cold storage and warehousing, private security
  18. Newspaper distribution
  19. Water supply, electricity, sanitation , law and order, municipal, fire, emergency services
  20. Courts
  21. Election related activity- following strict Covid protocol
  22. Religious rituals can be performed by priests/ administrators of places of worship without public presence

WHAT’S NOT ALLOWED

  1. All shops that are non-essential (that is all shops excluded in ‘what’s allowed list’ )
  2. Malls, big format shops, shopping complexes including grocery sections in these shops. (routine maintenance is permitted )
  3. Liquor stores, bars and serving of liquor in hotels and restaurants.
  4. Dining in: messes, restaurants, teashops or hotels. Hotel guests can dine in their rooms.
  5. No public worship allowed at religious places
  6. Religious congregations/ gatherings and thiruvizha (festivals)
  7. Gyms, salons, spas, theatres
  8. Any type of gatherings and meetings
  9. No victory rallies. Winning candidates can get their certificates accompanied by no more than two persons.
  10. Tourist spots
  11. Everything not mentioned in ‘allowed’ list 

 


Do I need an e-pass to travel between TamilNadu and Puducherry ?

E-pass is not required.
